Risk Types We Cover

ECRC's motor underwriters consider a wide range of fleet operators and motor portfolios. Here are the principal risk categories we write across the Eastern Caribbean.

Commercial Fleet

Large and mixed-use commercial vehicle fleets operated by businesses across the region — including goods vehicles, delivery fleets, and company car pools. We cover TPL and comprehensive on both individual and multi-territory fleet risks, with capacity for fleets requiring reinsurance support above the primary insurer's retention.

Car Rental & Self-Drive Hire

Car rental fleets are a significant motor risk category across the Eastern Caribbean's tourism-dependent islands, with high vehicle turnover, multiple drivers, and elevated accident frequency. ECRC's underwriters have specific experience with this class and can offer competitive reinsurance terms to primary insurers writing car rental business across the region.

Public Transport

Buses, minibuses, and route taxis form the backbone of public transportation across many Caribbean islands. These high-utilisation, high-exposure fleets represent a distinct motor risk category. ECRC considers reinsurance for public transport operators and the primary insurers who write this class, on both TPL and comprehensive bases.

Government & Private Motor Pools

Government vehicle pools, statutory authority fleets, and private motor portfolio books are an important part of the Caribbean motor insurance market. ECRC supports primary insurers writing these risks, including quota share treaty arrangements for those seeking proportional reinsurance across their private motor book.
